In a scientific, educational, but fun environment, young and old will discover through their own exploration the subtle contrasts in the Cantal's landscapes.
From the Monts du Cantal to the lush Alagnon and Santoire valleys, from La Planèze to the Pinatelle or the Cézallier uplands; each element that makes up one of these landscapes is examined and explained with interesting accounts so that we can make sense of, and appreciate the surrounding environment.
The displays use projectors, videos, tactile screens and other sensorial materials. New technology plays an important part in this centre which combines original presentations, documented research, local heritage objects and interviews of days gone by and present day.
• How did the valleys, uplands and mountains form?
• Why does the vegetation change within a short distance?
• What part does man play?
Three different themes are illustrated in the scenic area: volcanoes forest and man.
This beginner's insight is spread out on three floors and covers nearly 300mē. It questions, surprises and gradually immerses visitors in nature.
